Instead, of simply giving them the question or answer for the first question and seeing if they’ve got it right, challenge them with the questions and answers for all three of the questions. You’ll find that the student’s questions will actually become more difficult, and the answers will require a bit more than just memorization.

One important factor to remember is that when the child is being tested, they don’t want to look stupid. This is a stressful time, and one they need to feel relaxed and confident in order to perform at their best. So make sure that your questions are in a format that they can easily understand.

This is often referred to as practice writing, and it helps children to develop an understanding for what you’re saying. After reading the question, ask them to type it on their worksheets using their own words, using the appropriate format and tone.
